Father's Day Camping

This year for Father's Day I thought I had the perfect present in mind. It was FINALLY warm enough to take our trailer out for the first time. We were all so excited. We weren't able to leave until Saturday afternoon. Everything was going fine until we got just a few minutes from the campground when it sounded like our tire blew out. We got the trailer parked and started to investigate. It turns out after much searching that this large bolt had fallen off the brake. Super! Next came time to get the jacks down on the trailer. JD had one heck of a hard time getting them. In the process of all of this he smacked his head on the glass hatch of the Expedition twice. To the point that he about knocked himself out. After getting the jacks figured out we realized we had forgotten an ax. Luckily the campground host brought us some dry wood so we were able to get a fire going so we could roast hot dogs and marshmallows. We sat outside for a long time and had quite a nice evening. The girls loved the trailer and everyone slept surprisingly well. Oh and I should add JD's uncle Milo was nice enough to loan us his generator so the girls were able to watch movies. Which turned out to be a good thing. Because when we woke up in the morning it was pouring and it eventually turned to snow. So our fishing trip got cancelled as well. Two one day out of state fishing licenses down the drain. So this was Sunday and Father's Day. JD went for a walk for several miles down the road and luckily found the bolt that fell out. So he was able to fix the Expedition. Which is a good thing since there was also no cell service up there. He had also planned on cooking lunch in the dutch ovens. Which was great except that he ended up doing so in the snow! Poor guy. When I went to wash the dishes after lunch we discovered that the hot water heater wasn't working. Yep...just one of those experiences that afterwards you just have to look back on and smile.

Kenzie was nice enough to share her bed with Roxie. Harley also ended up there later in the night.

Silly girls....all 3 of them

Nothing like winter apparel in the middle of June

Now THIS is how you start a fire!!

Even though there were several bumps in the road...the girls had a blast and there were even some fun moments in there for JD and I as well. Happy Father's Day!!
